For our August 17, 2017 Gallery Night, we are especially pleased to offer a bilingual Spanish speaking tour with Carolina Briones.
Carolina Briones was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where she studied Interior Design at the Vicente Rocafuerte University in Guayaquil. She moved to Rhode Island in 1993 with her three children. In Rhode Island, she started working in manufacturing but soon became a volunteer part of AmeriCorps, a civil society program. For the past 17 years, she had worked for the Providence Community Library, currently as a Latino Program Coordinating.
She remains involved with the community as a member of the ECAS Board of Directors and President of the Ecuadorian Association of RI. For her contributions to education and culture, REFORMA has honored her with the Estela and Raul Mora Award, RISCA with the Community Leadership Award, and the Woman Development Institute with the Extraordinary Woman Award.
She recently started her own business MACART, where she offers custom items, and is an instructor at the painting workshop “Pincelada y Vino” (Paintbrush and Wine), which is also offered as a fundraising activity for non-profit organizations. In her free time she enjoys reading, painting, designing and creating jewelry.
