5:30 Rhode Island Maker-Spaces & Artists Tour (Celebrity Guide Mike Ryan)

Join Mike Ryan, editor of Motif Magazine (a local publication that focuses on arts, entertainment, and alternative news) on an Art Bus tour visiting four exciting creative spaces around Providence. The Art Bus will go to J Schatz’s new studio filled with their newest “Wonder-Certified” ceramic designs, then visit an exhibition of painting, drawing, and photography featuring four local artists at Sprout. The tour will make its way to a live glass-blowing demonstration at Gather Glass and finally view locally-made jewelry downtown at Copacetic. Staff Guide (and featured artist at Sprout!) 5:50 Tour for the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Celebrity Guide Peter Geisser)

This Art Bus tour, led by Peter Geisser (an activist for education and the arts) and accompanied by a signer, will visit four exhibitions around Providence. The Art Bus will see the video and photographic work of Pierre Huyghe and Gabriel Martinez at David Winton Bell Gallery, then make a visit to see some of the world-class treasures of the RISD Museum. At Anthony Tomaselli’s Historic Fleur de Lys Studio you’ll see a selection of his newest landscape paintings, and the tour with conclude at the exhibition Art of Pace: Reflections of Grace at the Providence City Hall Galleries. 6:10 Collector’s Tour with Hillary Salmons

Hillary Salmons hosts a tour for Gallery Night ProvidenceThis tour, led by Hillary Salmons, executive director of PASA (Providence After-School Alliance, which brings the arts to youth through after-school programs) will start at the John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities & Cultural Heritage, where a special exhibition highlights stories of enslaved and indentured Rhode Islanders from the 17th-19th century. The Art Bus will make its way to a collection of contemporary artwork in a variety of media displayed at ArtProv, organized around a common subject of horses, then to Gallery Z to check out fashion collections, and conclude at the  URI Feinstein Providence Campus Galleries which features an assembly of over 350 student artworks at the show “PS2017 and the Gift of Art to the State of Rhode Island.” Staff Guide (and featured artist at Gallery Z!) 6:30 Spotlight on Technique: Weaving & Glass Art Tour

On this tour, the Art Bus will bring you to Providence’s Fox Point, where you’ll see fair-trade weavings newly imported from Myanmar at Peaceable Kingdom and a selection of beautiful locally-made glassware at Gallery Belleau. The Art Bus will then head to the West Side for a live demonstration of glass-blowing at Gather Glass and a visit to Inner Space Outsider Art Gallery, see “A Bouquet and Two Buoys,” an exhibition of new work by artists and weavers at Flying Shuttles Studio. 7:00 Rhode Island Artists’ Tour

This tour starts at BankRI Gallery, which features Wendy Ingram’s solo show of paper landscapes. Then you’ll visit the historic studio Fleur de Lys studio featuring new paintings by Anthony Tomaselli. Right next door, the tour will view the work of six local artists in the exhibitions “Natural Selections,” “Another View” and “On the Verge” at the Galleries of the Providence Art Club. Finally, the Art Bus will stop at Dryden Gallery, where the member’s show from the Art League Of Rhode Island is on view. Staff Guide Anthony DiPalma.
