Meet Celebrity Guide Hillary Salmons

We are so pleased to welcome Hillary Salmons, Executive Director of the Providence After School Alliance (PASA), as one of our Gallery Night Providence “Celebrity Guides” on May 18, 2017.

For 12 years Hillary has led the Providence After School Alliance (PASA), a public-private non-profit organization whose mission is to expand and improve quality after school, summer and expanded learning opportunities for the youth of Providence. She is responsible for PASA’s community engagement, management, planning, and long-term development and sustainability. Hillary has worked closely with three mayors, five superintendents and over 100 community groups to manage a high quality after school system that has served 12,000 middle school youth – connecting 35% of Providence’s middle school youth and 300 high school youth each year  to real hands-on learning experiences that are steeped in youth development practices. Hillary has been a national advocate for building quality after school systems having hosted 4 annual City Symposiums in Providence inspiring 40 cities to  replicate components of  PASA’s systems model, as well as an active leader of the Every Hour Counts board.
Prior to PASA, Hillary led the Health & Education Leadership for Providence (HELP) coalition of the city’s non-profit colleges and hospitals that focused on improving the health and education of the children of Providence. While there, she worked to establish numerous systemic health and education initiatives which continue to this day. Hillary worked in Japan for 8 years with Refugees International, as well as in New York City as a deputy director at CAMBA, a Brooklyn community development organization. She has an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a B.A. from Harvard University. She currently serves on the Board of the Learning Community Charter School and is President of the Workforce Board’s Youth Council.
