Ian Alden Russell is a curator and writer working between Europe and the United States.
Currently the curator of the David Winton Bell Gallery, he is also a fellow of Brown University’s John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage. Alongside his curatorial work, he publishes and teaches in the areas of contemporary and collaborative arts, cultural heritage, modern and contemporary design, material culture studies, digital humanities and museum interpretation. He also coordinates the international research collaborative Urban Cultural Heritage & Creative Practice which recently completed a pilot study of the “smellscapes” of Istanbul, Turkey.
