Rebecca Leuchak, Director of the Program in Art and Architectural History at Roger Williams University, investigates and teaches the arts of a wide range of places and times as the diverse cultural perspectives on shared human experiences.
Academically trained at the Foreign Service School of Georgetown University, and then in Art History at the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University and the University of Brussels, Belgium, she has worked at The Cloisters Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and has consulted and curated for a number of smaller museums and collections.
At Roger Williams she founded the Program in Art and Architectural History which is launching a Master’s program in World Arts this fall. Taking students “on the road” to study World Arts has been her passion – from the Temples of Luxor to the Temples of Angkor Wat to the Temples of Delphi – themes of passion, privilege, politics and piety connect the arts and architecture created around the world in different eras. These arts from such diverse places and times speak to each other.
